“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6: 25 -28, 34

Not long ago, many of our worries were made up of what to eat and what to wear, raising our children to be productive and responsible, getting a better job, and perhaps where to go on vacation. Today, however, most of our worries go far beyond our own self, our family, and our homes as we face a world running rampant in sin. Abortion numbers rise as babies continued to be murdered, in the United States we are in June which has been labeled as PRIDE month where homosexuality along with the other LGBTQ agendas are celebrated and immorality is paraded for all to see. Continued COVID outbreaks along with the new Monkeypox causes fearfulness in many and elevated gas prices and projection of food shortages tack on additional fears. Our education systems, starting as early as Pre-school, are teaching LGBTQ and Critical Race Theory agendas, they have started transgendering our children, they are rewriting American History and moving farther and farther away from God and His Word. In Psalm 37:8 it says; “Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret – it leads only to evil.” In ‘The Handbook of Bible Application,’ Neil S. Wilson, Editor, copyright 1992, it is stated; “We must remember that worrying is choosing not to trust God. Anger and worry (fretting) are two very destructive emotions. They reveal a lack of faith that God loves us and is in control. We should not worry; instead, we should trust in God, giving ourself to him for his use and safekeeping. When you dwell on your problems, you will become anxious and angry. But if you concentrate on God and his goodness, you will find peace.” However, you may be thinking, how can we not worry about these great concerns that are in the world today and grow more disturbing each day. The ‘Handbook’ continues, that worry may also cause health problems, it can consume your thoughts, and disrupt your productivity and goes on to further states; “Here is the difference between worry and genuine concern – worry immobilizes, but concern moves you to action. Instead of worrying about what we cannot do, we need to focus on what God can do.” What action do we take about the multitude and magnitude of the concerns in the world today, we replace worry with PRAYER.

“Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 4-7

We need to stand in intercession and repent and pray on behalf of our world, for the end of abortions everywhere and for mothers and fathers to want their children, pray that the innocence of childhood can return to all our children, restored morality, an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, an end to droughts and destructive fires and insects causing food shortages as crops are destroyed. Pray for the Church, that the Bride of Christ would rise up in unity and prayer, knowing, speaking, and walking out the Word of God. Pray that Christians everywhere would not grow cold nor fear but burn with the fire of the Holy Spirit and PRAY.
