- Pray for California, United States.
Pray for the people in the Los Angeles, California area as 130,00 people have been forced to evacuate and more than two thousand structures have been consumed by wildfires. Ten people have been reported dead, pray for their families. Pray for shelter and provisions for those displaced. Pray for the protection and safety of the firefighters and first responders. Pray for the situation with the insurance coverage, or lack thereof, for many of those experiencing property damage. Pray for all those in need to come to the Lord at this time of trouble and find their hope in Him.
Lamentations 3:22-25 – “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, The Lord is my portion; therefore, I will wait for him.”
- Pray against terrorist attacks in the United States.
Pray for protection over the United States and for wisdom for those serving in protective services, after two possible terrorist attacks occurred on New Year’s Day. Pray for the families that loss loved ones in the suspected Islamic terrorist attack in New Orleans, Louisiana, and pray healing for those injured. Pray continued healing for those injured in the explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Los Vegas, Nevada.
Proverbs 18:10 - “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
- Pray for the Carter family.
Former United States President, Jimmy Carter, passed away on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at the age of one hundred. He was a believer and was known as a peacemaker. Pray comfort and peace for his family members at this time of loss.
Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
- Pray for a peaceful United States Presidential Inauguration.
Pray for incoming President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance as the inauguration ceremonies begin on Monday, January 20. Pray for peaceful events throughout the day and pray that President Trump and his team will guide the United States with wisdom and discernment from the Lord.
Hebrews 12:14a – “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy.”
Philippians 2:3,4 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
- Pray for Tibet, China.
A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Tibet on Tuesday, January 7th, killing at least one-hundred twenty-six people. Pray for the families who lost loved ones and pray for recovery from this natural disaster. Pray for those suffering loss to turn to the Lord.
Psalm 62:6 – “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken.”
- Pray for the oppressed in Sudan and Mozambique.
Due to civil war and political instability civilians in Sudan have faced death, displacement, trauma, and are now facing a famine. There is not just a lack of food but “a profound breakdown of health, livelihoods, and social structures, leaving entire communities in a state of desperation.” Food is hard to find and expensive, and aid groups are struggling “to reach the most vulnerable as warring parties limit access.” In Mozambique more pressure is expected on Christians by Islamist as attacks increase. Mozambique is also in need of prayer as the death toll from cyclone Chido rose to one- hundred-twenty people. Pray for food for Sudan and pray for those mourning in Mozambique and pray for peace in both countries and righteous leadership.
Isaiah 40:28-31 – “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
- Pray for Christians being persecuted.
Christians face imprisonment, torture, and assassination in many countries. Pray for these believers to have courage, faith, and renewed strength as hostilities towards Christians increase. Reports indicate that church growth is also occurring in many of these same countries so include prayers for continued church growth and spread of the gospel.
Psalm 37:7-9 – “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret, it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.”
- Pray for peace in Israel.
Pray for peace in Israel, Ukraine, and other countries where war rages or there are threats of war. Pray for leaders to repent and reform, where needed, to protect and provide for their people. Pray for righteous leaders, men and women who seek God and His wisdom, to seek His glory and not their own.
Isaiah 40:22-24 – “God sits high above the round ball of earth. The people look like mere ants. He stretches out the skies like a canvas, yes, like a tent canvas to live under. He ignores what all the princes say and do. The rulers of the earth count for nothing. Princes and rulers don’t amount to much. Like seeds barely rooted, just sprouted, they shrivel when God blows on them. Like flecks of chaff, they’re gone with the wind.”
Proverbs 3:7 – “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.”
