- Pray for Israel. Worthy News reports last week that “The United Nations Security Council urged
Israel and the Palestinians on Tuesday to avoid actions that can further inflame tensions in the
volatile region. The statement was backed by both the United States and Russia in a moment of
unity on a divisive issue, reflecting the widespread international concern at the escalating
violence.” This spike in violence and the subsequent Israeli and Palestinian casualties in the
West Bank raise concerns that decisive steps need to be taken to de-escalate growing tensions.
Romans 12:18 – “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with
everyone.”
Isaiah 10:20 – “In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of the house of Jacob, will
no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy one
of Israel.”
- Pray for those who are persecuted. Worthy News reports “1 In 3 Countries Persecute Christians,
Other Groups.” A Catholic charity stated that “more then half of the world’s population lives in
countries where Christian and others face religious persecution.” Terrorist attacks, anti-
conversion laws, fiscal crisis, electoral manipulations, lack of aid when natural disasters hit,
homes destroyed, torture, and murders occur in many countries and are not investigated by
authorities. In some countries these persecutions are condoned and/or performed by the
authorities. Countries where Christians are being killed include, but are not limited to, Nigeria,
India, Pakistan, Iran, Myanmar, Mozambique, and Mali. It has also been noted that there is
“growing persecution against Muslims and antisemitism in Europe.”
Matthew 5:11-12 – “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely
say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad because great is your
reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before
you.”
- Pray for nations that have turned from God and for nations that have never embraced God. Pray
for people to repent and for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit to fall on the nations. Pray that
people would come to know the true God, our only hope, and our salvation.
Isaiah 24:5 – “The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated
the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 – “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from
heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Isaiah 25:3, 8 – “Therefore strong peoples will honor you; cities of ruthless nations will
revere you. He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the
tears from all faces, he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The
Lord has spoken.”
- Pray for traveling mercies and protection over United States travel this 4th of July holiday. Pray as
people celebrate our country’s freedom that their eyes will be opened to the true freedom
found in Jesus Christ.
Numbers 6:24 – “The Lord bless you and keep you;”
Psalm 91:4 – “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find
refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
John 8:34 -36 – “Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a sone belongs to it forever. So if
the Sone sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
