2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed,
but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
- Pray for Ukraine.
Pray for Ukraine as the war with Russia continues. It was reported that a Russian strike killed fifty-one people last week. This was the deadliest attack against civilians in over a year. Pray for peace and an end to this conflict as the terror continues.
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
- Pray for people experiencing flooding in India.
More natural disasters occurred this past week as heavy rains caused a glacial lake to burst in north-east India. Eighteen people were killed and approximately 100 people missing. Also, Lhonak Lake overflowed, causing a dam to collapse affecting more than 22,000 people. Indian meteorologists stated that four inches of rain fell the first five days of October, more than double the normal rainfall and more is predicted in the days ahead. Pray for those who have lost loved ones, for those missing to be found, and for those who have been displaced due to this flooding.
1 Thessalonians 4:18 – “Therefore encourage each other…”
- Pray for the United States Supreme Court.
As the Supreme Court, United States, begin a new nine-month term to look at major issues in the U.S. Issues include, gun rights, power of federal agencies, access to abortions, and many others affecting the American people. Pray for the judges to seek God’s wisdom and that they will proceed in obedience to His will and for the good of the people of the U.S.
1 Kings 3:9 – “So give your servant discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
- Pray for the Pope and the Catholic Church.
According to the ‘Washington Times’, in July, Pope Francis affirmed the Catholic Church’s “…very clear conception of marriage; an exclusive, stable and indissoluble union between a man and a woman…”. However, he is now suggesting blessings for same-sex couples, suggesting that “When you ask for a blessing; you are expressing a request for help from God, a prayer to be able to live better, a trust in a Father who can help us live better.” Pray for the Pope to know and follow the will of God and not be double minded to please people and that he will not mislead those he is responsible to teach the word correctly.
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
- Pray for the persecuted.
Worthy News reported the following this past week; “Laos Christians expelled from their home for abandoning traditional beliefs.”, in Uganda, a Muslin extremist locked up his son, nearly starving him to death for becoming Christian, and Nicaragua becomes the first Central American country to be added to the Open Doors watch list of top 50 persecuted countries. Continue to pray for those who are persecuted daily for their Christian faith and thank God for the freedom you have, to express and share that faith and to worship God openly. Plan to join in prayer on the Annual International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, Sunday November 5th . Per Worthy News, and a report from Voice of Martyrs, more than 360 million Christians live in nations where they are subjected to persecution for their faith. The theme for this year is “Courage to Rise Above” and the featured countries are Nicaragua, Nigeria, and India. See below:
“Please join us on Sunday, November 5th in praying that our suffering global family in Christ will experience continued strength and confidence in the presence of our Savior and Lord,” VOM requested in their report. “As these persecuted believers receive the courage to “rise above,” may they be empowered and equipped to testify as bold witnesses of God’s unending goodness and love And as we pray for them, may we likewise be motivated to remain resolute in our faith, living courageously and without fear, knowing that our Heavenly Father will assuredly be with us al all times as well.”
John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this
world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
