-          Pray for those experiencing the effects of Hurricane Helene (United States).

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida Thursday night and wreaked havoc into Friday morning through parts of Florida into Georgia, then working its way through the Carolinas and into Kentucky, Tennessee, and into parts of Virgina. Leaving forty-one people dead and four million homes and businesses without power and posing threats of more flooding as heavy rains continue in some areas. Pray for families who have loss loved ones and pray for those who are suffering other hardships due to this storm.

Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Colossians 3:12a – “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, hold and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion.”

-          Continue prayer for Zambia and other countries affected by the drought.

Pray as Zambia continues to face the worst drought in over 40 years. Lack of rain not only brings a risk of famine but also, as most of Zambia’s electricity come from hydroelectric plants, daily power shutdowns are undermining the economy. Pray for the mid-November rains to come on time and for a bountiful harvest.

Psalm 39:7 – “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.”

Psalm 62:5-8 – “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him. For God is our refuge.”

-          Pray for Israel and for peace in the Middle East.

As “clashes between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon continue,” there is concern that this “could turn into a full-scale regional war.”  The United States started to send extra troops to the Middle East this past week. Pray protection over those that stand against terrorist activity.

Psalm 132:13-15 – “For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling. This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned for I have desired it; I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food.”

 -          Pray against unwise decisions and changes to the United Nations (UN) current system.

This past weekend a summit was held where the UN was pushing for a “Pact for the Future.”  This would include “transforming global governance,” and would “require a multidimensional multistakeholder and whole of government, whole of society response.” Argentina President, Javier Milei, warns of “dictatorial tendencies” and the UN anti-Israel stance and that the UN will push their “will or ideology on the world population,” telling nations what they should do and telling citizens how to live. Pray for the people involved to be aware of what the United Nations should and should not be allowed to control in individual countries and to vote accordingly when the time comes to make changes in the current system.

Psalm 11:5-7 – “The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates. On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot. For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.”

-          Pray for persecuted Christians in Sudan.

“Displaced Christians in war torn Sudan are among millions of people facing starvation,” per a report from Worthy News. Christians “are not receiving aid in this Islamic African nation,” thousands are homeless, and they face persecution due to their faith. Pray they receive humanitarian aid, pray for their protection against abuse, and pray for their faith to stay strong in the Lord.

Psalm 146:7,8 – “He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.”

Psalm 72:12-14 – “For he will deliver the needy who cray out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.”
